Flusche Weekend

We have had a great, busy weekend filled with lots of the Flusche gang!! :)

Friday night we went over to Luke's brother Marc's house to watch game 7 of the world series! We had a BLAST! We won--Landon was so excited! Uncle Luke gave him a ride around the block in the wagon ;)

Saturday we went over to Matt & Ashley's house. We always have a fun time hanging out with everyone! :)

Here's some pics from the weekend :)

Pumpkins

Halloween is quickly approaching so I thought it would be okay to start working on our pumpkins. I saw an idea on pinterest that I knew I wanted to do. I didn't think it would be too hard at all. Below is what I wanted to accomplish. .........
Let's just say..MAJOR FAIL! We cleaned our pumpkins out and drilled holes with Luke's handy drill. All was well up until this point. We grabbed a couple strings of lights and started to poke each light (yes, each light) through the holes. It was a PAIN in the you know what! :) About the time you got them in, another one would pop out....pulling the bulb out of the socket and leaving us with unlit lights! I got fed up with it pretty quick...so we resorted to just sticking the entire string of lights in the pumpkin and below is what we have. I may try to just put some candles in it for Halloween and see if it lights up better. We may have needed bigger holes too, but I'm over it! They will have to do! :)

I didn't have so much luck in the pumpkin area! Oh well..there is always next year ;)

Around the Clock

I have had a hard time deciding what to do with the BIG brown wall. I have a HUGE clock on it, but it just wasn't cutting it..... Luke put some molding around it a couple weeks ago. It was super cheap...about $10.00 for all of the molding. It still just wasn't doing it for me. It need something more inside the frame I thought....
I decided to try and paint something in the square. I had thought about doing some type of stenciling, but that just requires to much time! I decided to paint stripes (they are easy!) using contrasting high gloss paint. We painted the wall with satin paint. If I knew I was going to do this I probably would have chosen flat paint. I bought the sample size paint from Home Depot in high gloss! I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out....

Here it is after we pulled the tape off! I love how subtle it is! It was so easy, took about an hour from start to finish.
I'm happy with the way it turned out! :)

Busy Fall

I cannot believe it is already the middle of October! Time just keeps flying by! Two of my great friends, Sherri & Mary, are getting married in the next couple of months. Sherri is getting married next Friday night and Mary is getting married on New Year's Eve. I am so excited for both of them! I have been busy getting things ready for Mary's wedding shower in November. I've made lots of fun stuff ...but can't share them until it's over! I'll be sure to post pics! :)

I thought I would share some pictures of my fall decor before it quickly passes us by! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! I love the chilly weather, pretty colors, football, pumpkin, and yummy smells! Fall is much different here in Tulsa though. The temperature is still 80-85 degrees everyday! CRAZY! Of course the leaves aren't changing either...hopefully by the end of the month I will get my fall fix! :)

Here are my leopard pumpkins and fall garland I made. A printable from pinterest and some sparkly pumpkins :)I added a little, matching fall to our kitchen! :)
MUMS! I love them!!! I can't believe they are blooming and STILL alive!!!! It's been almost a month :)
Of course fall is not complete without some pumpkins! :) I have some ideas for these guys....
We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us! We also set the date for our wedding, June 11, 2012. I am so excited! I have been working on getting our Save the Dates ready. This wedding planning thing is kinda fun :)

Destination Wedding

We have finally decided some big details for our wedding! We are going to tie the knot on the white sandy beaches of Destin, FL! It is absolutely gorgeous! Our reservations are for June 8-June 15, 2012. I am 99.9% sure the wedding will be on June 11th, 2012...just need to talk with the wedding planner about some final questions before we book it! Here are some pictures of the beautiful beach! My parents have timeshare in Sandestin....we have been here for the past 5 years! I LOVE IT!

This is music to my ears........

Railing Post Candle Holders

I have been wanting some BIG candle holders or my mantle. I have looked and looked and can only find EXPENSIVE ones. Expensive as in $80.00-$130.00 for EACH candle holder. That is CRAZY..I would never spend that. So, I improvised and made these big guys! It was actually pretty easy. We went to Lowes and rounded up the supplies. You need railing posts, post caps (which can all be found in outdoor deck railing area), spray paint primer and color, some nails, and wood glue.
First I decided what size I wanted them and we marked them off. Luke got out his nifty saw and cut them down for me. We glue and nailed the post caps to the bottom of each post for stability. Once we got them put together, we sanded them down and sprayed them down with primer.

Waited for them to dry...and painted them with the spray black paint! :) And here is the final thing......
My pumpkins will hang out on them until after Fall. :) Two BIG candle holders for under $55.00....you can't beat that! :)

Cereal Box Storage

I found another idea on pinterest that I liked...surprise!!! It is SO easy! I hate having stuff on my fridge doors, I just don't like the cluttery look! I always have odds and ends that I don't have a place to put. This is the perfect solution! A cereal box turned into fridge door storage..and it's cute!
All you need is a cereal box, tissue paper or scrap book paper (I have tons of leopard tissue paper so decided to try it out--although I would rather have something else..I may make another :) ), and mod podge. That's it!
To start, you just cut your box. Cut the front smaller than the back. Pretty self explanatory! :)

Then I used my foam brush and mod podge to put the paper on the box. Wrap it like a present! Once you have it all wrapped let it dry. I applied another coat of mod podge over the top to secure it and make it a little shiny. You don't have to do that step though.
Here's the final product! I think it turned out good...and it's functional! Again, I might try and find some scrapbook paper to make a different one that's NOT leopard :)

New to this...

Well, here I am! I decided to cave and start a blog. I don't really think I have enough exciting things to write about (that people will actually want to read)...but we'll see! :)

We have had a great weekend! Friday afternoon my soon to be sis-in-law and her friend Tonya decided to be crafty. We had all seen this super cute wreath on pinterest and decided to try it out. The wreath itself wasn't actually too hard to replicate. It wasn't the cheapeast craft to do...almost as cheap to just buy a dang wreath ;)

{Wreath on Pinterest}

We used a styrofoam wreath, green moss (in the bag), some glittery pumpkins, and ribbon. I love the burlap look in the wreath above but it was IMPOSSIBLE to do without it fraying. We used spray adhesive..BEWARE..it sticks to everything!! I think I had green hands all weekend :) hehe. I resorted to some leopard ribbon and brown ribbon, I just layered them. Here's the final product..I think it turned out pretty cute!

{My wreath}
Luke and I deciede to go to the Tulsa State Fair on Friday night. The weather was absolutely perfect for a night at the fair! We had a great time! The Tulsa fair is much different than our Missouri fair. Lots of rides, shopping, GOOD food, and people watching! :) Steel Magnolia's was playing a free concert, we watched a few of their songs. I recognized some from the radio! {At the fair}
Today we went and watched Landon (Luke's nephew) play in a baseball tournament. It got pretty hot sitting out there and I managed to get a little burn goin' on! They all did awesome though! The weekend is quickly coming to a close....I wish they would never end! :) {My lovely sunburn}
